My opinion about violence on television, Chilean education, Immigration and drugs

violence on television?

In Chile, television in general shows a lot of violence, in the news, in morning programs, in children's programs, in adult programs, in humor programs, etc. All show different types of violence and different levels; In the news is real violence, and tends to be high, in the morning programs it's also real violence but low, in children's programs and in humor program it's fake violence and to entertain, and in the adult program violence is usually towards women, and it is to entertain.

In my opinion it is not right that the open television shows so much violence, because children have access to this, because to some extent it contributes to generate a violent society, and because it contributes to generating fear in the population.

Chilean education?

In my opinion Chilean education does not work well, due to the market logic that it has, since education is considered a consumer thing,  in this, parents and students have to choose between the type and level of education according to their economic resources.

Immigration?

From my point of view to migrate is a human right, therefore the countries that subscribe to them must have public and social security policies that support migrants, In addition to regulating their entry to the countries and permanence in these.

Legalizing marijuana and other drugs?

In Chile, drug use is currently very high, including legal and illegal drugs, this for different reasons, mainly recreational, medicinal and addiction, generating illegal drugs problems in the lowest sectors of society, such as drug trafficking, violence, murders, etc.  That is why I think the best thing is that the state must legalize and regulate certain drugs that are currently illegal, such as marijuana, so that it would end up in part with drug trafficking, and could address drugs as a public health issue and not as a police issue.

MY POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

Today I will write about a postgraduate course that I would like to take, the graduate is called “Magister en Descentralización y Gestión territorial” from Universidad de Chile,  who is a magister who will start teaching by the Instituto de Asuntos Públicos since 2020, although the magister is not yet fully defined, because of the name I think I would like, because I would like to work in a region other than “Región Metropolitana”, mainly the regions of “Los Ríos, “La Araucanía” or  “Los Lagos” to work the indigenous topic , Therefore, I would like to study in Chile. I  likeI would like to study part-time coursel because I do many extracurricular activities, and the one offered by the university of Chile is twice a week for assistance. I would like to study in the magister a subject related to indigenous communities or local communities. This magister would help me to develop in my future job, since I would like to work in a municipality in southern Chile, in the Corporación Nacional de Desarrollo Indígena, in an NGO o in a foundation in southern Chile. I am interested in this topic because Chile is very centralized, in public policies, in economic resources, in political power, and in the public problems addressed by public services, therefore regions tend to be disadvantaged compared to the “Región Metropolitana”.
